Fused Glass Art
Fused glass art is another beautiful and expressive form of glass art which developed centuries before the ancient Romans began glassblowing. Fused glass art is made by stacking or layering thin sheets of glass, then placing the glass into a kiln and heating the glass where the individual layers melt and fuse together into beautiful creations of glass art.
Fused glass was the primary form of glass art for approximately 2000 years until hand blown glass came about with the invention of the blowpipe. Now in the 20th century fusing glass is regaining its popularity as both a hobby as well as in the world of fine art which has regained its appreciation for fused glass art.
